Candy Cane Dog Leash

This tutorial will show you how to create a paracord dog leash using the candy cane weave.

What you Need

• Paracord – One foot per one inch in length (for two colours, half the length for each colour).

• 2 x Trigger Snaphooks

• Fids

• Lighter

• “D’ Ring

• Ruler / Measure Tape

Step one: Make a Lark’s Head Knot

Find the middle of your cord.
Insert through the snaphook
Bring it over the snaphook
Tighten to secure.

Step two: Set your leash length.

Insert your cord ends through the other Snaphook.
Length between the Snaphooks is the leash length

Step three: Secure your leash length

Take your outer left cord and take it over the cord next to it.
Now take it around the back and through the loop.
Tighten to secure.
Do the same to the other side.

Step four: Begin your weave.

Take your far left cord and bring it over the two centre cords and under the far right.
Bring it behind and through the loop.
Tighten.
Now take your right cord and bring it over the two centre cords,
Bring it around the back and through the loop.
Tighten.
Now that the left cord and go behind the two centre cords.
Then around the front and through the loop.
Tighten,
Now take the left cord and go over the two centre cords and under the far right cord.
Take the right cord behind the through the loop
tighten.

Step five: Repeat until you reach one foot (30cm) in length.

Step six: Attach the ‘D’ Ring

Continue your pattern, but pass each cord through the ring as you go to secure.

Step seven: Secure your cord ends.

Ensure you end on a half square knot (pictured)
Attach your fids and flip your leash over.
take your cord up through the Snaphook
Insert into your leash.
Do the same to the other side. For a clean look, you can stitch it through the lark’s head knot before taking it through the Snaphook.

Step eight: Cut and singe the ends to finish
