Paracord Dog Leash

Paracord Dog Leash

In this video, I will show you how to make a Paracord dog leash that is super strong and durable.

This is beginner friendly, minimal tools are required. If you do not have paracord fids you can needle-nose pliers instead.

What you Need

• Paracord – One foot per one inch in length.

• 2 x Trigger Snaphooks

• 1 x ‘D’ Ring

• 1 x Lighter

• Fids

• Scissors / Knife

• Ruler / Tape Measure.

Step one: Create a Lark’s Head Knot.

Find the middle of the cord and attach the snaphook.
Pull to tighten.

Step two: Set your leash length.

Pull your cord through your second trigger snaphook.
Distance between your cords is the leash length.

Step three: Secure cord to your snaphook.

Use your thumb and finger to hold the cord in place while you secure.
Take the outer strand and wrap it around the inner cord.
Pull it through and tighten.
Should look like this.
Do the same on the other side.

Step four: Begin your Cobra Weave.

Take one outer cord and go over the two inner cords and under the far outer cord. I am taking the right cord.
Now take the other outer cord (left) and bring it behind the leash and through the loop
Pull the cord to tighten.
Now do the same thing again, this time start on the other side (left)
Keep repeating this process until approx 30cm.
If you lose track of which side to start next, the lowest horizontal cord is the one that you will take other the front of the leash next (left in pic).

Step five: Attach the ‘D’ Ring.

Pull your cord through the ‘D’ ring as you make each weave.
Continue the rest of the way down the leash.

Step six: Attach your fids to finish the leash.

Attach your fids then flip your leash over.
Bring your cord ends up through the Snaphook.
Feed your cord ends back up into the leash.

Step seven: Cut and singe the ends.

Your leash is complete.
